PLU is nothing like UW or OC. Those colleges were relatively easy compared to PLU. So much work and reading and tests/quizzes/extra curriculars. This is going to be my hardest year yet. I will have to work really hard for my good grades. I will always be supported by those who love me though.. so I know that I can make it through anything. I live for May 2012 when I have my BSN and an immediate job when I graduate.

Well my 21st birthday was amazing to say the least. I spent it with my one and only and he made it really special for me. Tiffany's heart necklace and a custom cake made by the hotel once we checked into the Paris Las Vegas Hotel was super cute. Our room overlooked the Eiffel tower, the pool, and the fountain show at the Bellagio. We were right in the middle of the strip so we could walk anywhere without it taking forever. If we ever go again we want to stay at Ceasars Palace or the Bellagio.

Las Vegas was so much fun. Although the weather on all days was 100+ degrees. We walked up and down the strip to all the cool hotels and gambled at some of them. We both won 50 bucks on a dollar machine but promptly lost it all plus some. Oh well, it was really fun. The show O at the Bellagio (Cirque De Solei) was amazing. I am so glad his mom bought us tickets. I would definitely see it again. Getting "Married" in the Paris chapel was the higlight of the trip. Pix will be on facebook soon.

Our next trip will either be to Hawaii or Florida next summer. We are still deciding where to go and what place is better. Any suggestions would be helpful.

I have discovered that I really like drinking Cosmopolitians and Lemon drops. They are rather refreshing. I am not a beer person. Beer is gross.

I start school in a week and 2 days. Really excited, a tiny bit nervous. Moving into my dorm next weekend. Classes start on Tuesday. I am so glad that I have a single room all to myself. No more Jasmine scenarios.

Well off to do my list of errands.

Overtime pay is good... but having holiday pay and overtime pay on the same paycheck is even better!

Life has been busy and wonderful. Working extra hours at the hospital has been stressful but its easy money.

A lot has changed in the past couple months. I am going to PLU school of nursing in the fall. I am super excited! A girl that i work with is also going so at least there is one friendly face in the class i already know.

Next July I want to go to Haiti on a medical mission trip with one of the nurses i work with. Its for 2 weeks and i would be working in a clinic helping all the people down there have access to medical care. Its fairly cheap... $1000. I could easily make that in one paycheck. I have to get more information about it and see if it is something I would really want to participate in. From the way my coworker was talking about it, I really do want to do it.

Tonight Josh and I went to a Brazilian restaurant in Seattle. They had really good food... we tried 17 different types of meat and I can say that I hate rack of lamb. It was disgusting. Never eat rack of lamb!

well time for bed.

So last night I had to be a one to one sitter for a patient who was on suicide watch. Easiest 12 hour shift ever. We watched 4 hours of Star Trek on the Sci Fi Channel, then he went to sleep while I watched the food network and did my dosage calculations homework. I really like my job.
Work is so much fun. Well not fun per se, but fun enough.

Today I got to hook up an EKG machine and run a strip to check for abnormalitities with the electrical firing and such. It was so neat. I put 10 leads on the patient and pushed a button and instantly a heart strip came out.

Part of my job is paging doctors. I love the times when I page one super early in the morning at like 2o'clock am. Its funny to wake them up and tell them they have to talk to the nurse cause of something going wrong with their patient.

I haven't had the opportunity to mess with the bladder scanner yet, but that is my next task to do when it arises. Seeing how many mL of fluid they have in their bladder sounds exciting.

Its not nursing yet, I am on my way to that, but it sure beats flipping burgers at mcdonalds for a job. Guaranteed job security. Everyone needs a CNA to do all the shit work and process labs, xrays, orders, page docs, and clean up shit. Its fun!

I dealth with my first prison patient the other day. It's interesting how we treat prison patients. They are not allowed to have any metal on their meal trays, everything has to be plastic and disposable and accounted for when the meal is over and instantly taken out of the room.Going to the bathroom is a fun scenario. They are shackled to the bed. A prison guard who is in the room unshackles them from the bed, shackles both their feet together and then leaves the room for me to deal with. Female patient, male guard doesnt really work. So I have to watch patient walk from bed to bathroom, with bathroom door open, watch her pee, watch her clean herself, watch her wash hands, watch back to bed, guard comes in shackles her back to the bed. It was quite interesting. This job definitely has its interesting moments.

20th birthday certaintly was the best birthday i've ever had.

i woke up to birthday texts and a birthday phone call from Josh... he told me to hurry up and get ready and come over. so i did.

Once over at his house he told me what one of my presents was.. he took me to a day spa to have a body wrap. it was so cool.... i was wrapped in seaweed that smelled like peppermint and had my feet and head massaged.

then after that we went back to his house where his parents bought me a cake from coldstone that had my name written on it. (i absolutely love his parents)

then we just chilled around his house for a couple hours until we took the ferry to seattle to eat at cheesecake factory.

once back home again he gave me another present. this time it was a white gold 10 diamond ring. he spent like two months trying to find it and has major insurance on it. and its all mine! i love it. its absolutely perfect.

saturday was fun too. my grandparents from kirkland came and visited my house... they met josh... they like him. then later on that night josh and i went to the drive in. it was fun, he has a truck so we brought blankets and layed in the bed of his truck and watched not only the movie but the lovely stars.

it was a fantastic birthday weekend!

So the other day... actually it was Thursday I got to go to Starbucks headquarters and take a class. it was a stupid class, but afterwards was not stupid. me and the girl i went with got to go in the corporate offices and stuff in search of the partner store. (we wanted to buy some shirts) we had to have id passes and everything. it was so cool. starbucks has the coolest corporate offices... couches and comfy chairs everywhere, hardwood floors, amazing pictures.. and the coolest thing yet... actuall espresso machines (the ones we use in the stores) in their break rooms. what a cool place to work. howard shultz the ceo of starbucks has his office in that building... we could have seen him! i find that so neat.

so in other news... my bday is soon approaching. to prepare for it i need to go and buy a dress cause the bf is taking me to dinner and wants me to dress up. well actually i want to dress up and its a good reason to go and buy a dress. i hate surprises but i have been told that i will have to wake up early to go and make an appointment that he is planning. i have no idea what he is planning but all i know is that this activity is going to take an hour and 20 minutes and i will need to take a shower back at his house afterwards. hmm... any ideas?

i started my new job as a cna. its ok. i work in sub acute which means that the patients i deal with will be discharged within a couple weeks. they come to my place after having surgery or something at the hospital but cant go home yet after being discharged from the hospital. i have met some pretty neat people and my coworkers are really nice. its not really hard work, just tiring cause i am constantly moving and giving showers or dealing with residents. it will be worth it cause my director of nursing graduated with a masters degree from uw school of nursing so i am so going to him for a letter of recommendation! josh brings me dinner every night which is really cute cause he helps out the residents while he is waiting for me to take my lunch break.

life is stressful right now. going to school monday and wednesday from 8am to 1230 and then working monday tuesday and wednesday at my cna !ob from 2pm to 10pm then on thursday thru sat i have varying shifts at starbucks. sunday is my only day to myself which is mostly filled with studying for tests and homework or doing stuff with josh. all will be a lot better once school is done for the summer. but everything will pay off eventually.

Random crap:

1. Starbucks is so much fun!! One of my really good elementary school friends works with me.

2. I have learned to not let people step all over me and take advantage of me. Airlie is standing up for herself now. She is not going to let coworkers or boys walk all over her.

3. This quarter is almost over. Yay for a nearly 4.0 gpa this quarter while taking math, anatomy/physiology and nursing assistant class. 24 credits = piece of cake.

4. Being a cna is a lot of work, but it is so rewarding to make a difference in residents lives. Today this one older lady reached out for my hand and called me pretty and skinny and asked me to wheel her to the dining room. I also had a resident who let me practice on her even though she doesnt like students working on her.

5. if i ever have a bad day, i know that I can always hand lotion to josh for him to massage my hands and feet and i will always find red licorice in my drawer in his room waiting for me.

6. its fun having a constantly busy schedule. it makes me feel productive.

7. Being accepted into the boyfriends family is so nice. I love going over there without josh there and just talking to his parents or brother. I love walking upstairs and laying on his bed and watching his huge tv and just knowing that i am welcome and accepted in the house like i am part of their family.

8. This summer is going to be busy. I want to get a job as a cna at the veterans home and i am going to continue to work at starbucks while doing my last quarter at oc before i get my aa degree. its going to be a busy and fun summer.

9. "this time is the last time, be here, here now, this time is the last time, you've got to get away, oh i get lost in the thought of losing you, you've got to get away, now its a dream but it must be true" is still my favorite phrase

10. 20th birthday plans? yep already in the making. i really want to take a trip someplace. like go to disneyland or something before everyone leaves for college again and there is no time to do anything. it would be fun to take a huge group of us.

11. my life is good right now, i have no complaints.

I am done with Haselwood Auto! No more Toyota! No more Honda! (not that I was allowed to work there anyways) Now I am allowed to walk into Honda and give Josh lunch or something without being yelled at for being there. If anyone wants a job there are a couple openings for coffee girls. The new toyota store is done so there will be three coffee stands on the hill... Honda, Toyota, and Jeep.

I start Starbucks sometime this week. I dont know the exact date yet. I am so excited. One of my friends from sixth grade also got hired there so I am even more excited now that I know someone. Bring on the free coffee! the discount! and working for a fortune 500 company!

It is going to be nice having a couple days off from work. I can do things that I want to do.

I start clinicals this week. It should be terrifying and excitng all at the same time. Hopefully by the end of this class I will have a job offer as a CNA. I work part time at Starbucks and I figure I could work part time as a CNA. Double the money I would be getting. Its not like I have time to spend it anyways. I am too busy either working or at school or doing homework.

Yesterday was an amazing beautiful day. Josh and I went to Viking Fest in Poulsbo and then to Kitsap Lake. My face is a little red, but it was worth it. It was a cute day.

May 16th 2008.

"its so good, its like angels dancing on my tongue."

I am so excited for the year to come.

I had an interview at a bank in Bremerton today. I am fairly sure I got the job cause the manager said I was in his top three choices... they are hiring three people. Yay for that. I will be leaving my job at Toyota hopefully within the next 6 weeks or so, I will be there long enough to work at the superstore for like a couple weeks or so which is going to be hectic and fun at the same time.

In a matter of a couple months I will have my AA degree and a CNA license. Its going to be really nice not having to freak out about any classes and stuff. During the summer I have to finish the anatomy series, take a humanities and english class and then I am done with OC. In the fall I have to take a nutrition class at UW, which will be nice cause I can be a "commuter" student for a quarter. All I have to do is fill out a returning student application, pay 50 bucks and I am a part time UW student for a quarter. After fall quarter I think I am going to take a phlebotomy class at OC just so I can have "certified phlebotomist" on my resume. Then spring and summer I can do whatever the hell I want to do. I am thinking I will work part time as a bank teller and then get a CNA job someplace for part time. That way I can make some extra money while also getting the required CNA hours that UW school of nursing requires to apply to their program.

Its going to be nice living at home for another year or so. I can save money and just work full time. Its not like I am going to be home much anyways. Like right now, I pretty much go home to sleep and do laundry. Most of the time I am either at work, school, or doing stuff with Josh or friends. I love my life right now, its pretty much stress free and fun, but I am so ready for my life to start. I guess I should just enjoy my youth years now, cause pretty soon they are going to be gone. May as well make the best of them!
